Terms of Use
In effect since
Welcome to Longtable. These terms explain what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you. Please read them. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it plainly.
These terms are an agreement between you and Front Porch OS LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("we", "us"), which operates Longtable ("the service").
1. Who may join
You must be 18 or older to hold an account. One account per person. The details you give us — your name, where you live, how to reach you — must be true, because other members rely on them when they decide to meet you.
2. What Longtable is
Longtable helps neighbors find each other and meet in small groups called Circles. We provide the place where that happens. We do not organize your meetings, supervise them, or attend them.
3. Meeting in person
Circles meet in the real world. That is the point of them, and it is also where the risk lies. You are responsible for your own safety and your own judgment when you meet anyone through this service.
Please take ordinary care. Meet somewhere public the first time. Tell someone where you are going. Leave if you are uncomfortable — you never owe anyone an explanation.
We do not run background checks on members. Verification, where a member has it, confirms that a real person matches the name and face on the account. It is not a safety rating and it is not a character reference.
4. How to behave here
Be kind to your neighbors. That is the whole of it, but to be specific, do not:
- harass, threaten, demean or impersonate anyone;
- use another member's details for anything other than arranging to meet through Longtable;
- advertise, recruit, solicit donations, or sell anything;
- post anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to post.
We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a way to respond.
5. Your content
What you write and the photos you post remain yours. By posting them you allow us to display them to other members as part of running the service. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where we are required to keep a record.
6. Membership and payment
Some parts of Longtable require a paid membership. The price and what it includes are shown before you pay. Paid memberships renew automatically until you cancel, and you may cancel at any time; cancelling stops the next payment and does not refund the current period unless the law where you live says otherwise.
If we change the price, we will tell you before it takes effect and you will have the chance to cancel first.
7. Closing your account
You may close your account whenever you wish, from your account settings. We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to.
8. What we do not promise
We work to keep Longtable available and accurate, but we provide it as it is. We cannot promise it will never be unavailable, and we cannot promise that any member is who they say they are or will behave as they should.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what happens between members, at meetings, or as a result of anything a member tells you. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When the change is minor — clearer wording, a corrected reference — we will tell you and continuing to use Longtable will mean you accept it. When the change is significant, we will ask you to read and accept the new version before you carry on.
We keep a record of every version and of when you accepted it. You may ask us for a copy of that record at any time.
10. Getting in touch
Questions about these terms go to the Help & Support section in the app, or to the contact address published there. We answer in plain language.
