For active adult communities
Lasting bonds. Real agency. Deeper purpose.
A resident life that grows from within: residents create it and contribute to it, and Longtable carries the organizing.
What residents get
Known
You meet the same people again
A circle meets on a regular day, and repetition turns someone you like into a friend.
You know who will be there
Before you decide whether to go.
You are missed when you are away
The people who expect you on Thursday are the ones who notice on Friday.
Needed
What you know is worth something
Share what you know, or learn something new, with Share & Learn.
Everyone has a part
Someone leads, someone handles the practical side, someone keeps in touch.
It does not rest on one person
When the person who started it steps back, another member takes it on.
A true stakeholder
Start what is missing
Find people who share what you love. If the circle you want does not exist yet, start it.
It changes with you
A different day, a different place, as your routine changes.
It travels with you
When you travel or spend part of the year away, your circle can meet online.
Residents see who will be there before they decide to go. Not another screen: no feed and nothing to scroll — the app’s job is to get residents into the room.
What a circle could look like
Examples. Your circles will be whatever your neighbors choose.
- Example
Tuesdays · 9:00 AM
Pickleball, beginners welcome
The clubhouse courts
6 neighbors going - Example
Saturdays · 8:00 AM
Saturday morning ride
Leaving from the clubhouse
5 neighbors going - Example
First Thursday · 4:00 PM
Book group
The clubhouse library
7 neighbors going
Why it matters
Loneliness is not always about being alone
It is about going unseen and feeling unneeded, and it can reach anyone, however full their days. Longtable helps communities answer that by helping residents build relationships that deepen over time, alongside everything you already offer.
What makes it different
Four principles behind every circle
Intimacy and consistency. The same faces, week after week, is how acquaintances become people you trust: about 50 hours together before two adults call each other friends (Jeffrey Hall, University of Kansas).
Shared identity, not only shared activity. A shared activity brings people into the room; a shared identity is what keeps them together. A circle becomes “us.”
Reciprocity. One neighbor teaches knitting, another the iPad. Everyone is a valued contributor, not just an audience.
Active stakeholders, not passive participants. People care for what they help shape. When residents lead, they own it, and it lasts.
What your community gets
Neighbors who become friends, all year round.
New homeowners find their people quickly
A new resident can find three neighbors who share an interest and be expected on Thursday.
A place residents speak well of
Residents who are known and needed are the ones who speak well of the place — to their families, and to the next homeowners.
Leadership shared by many
Every circle shares out the running, so more residents lead, and club leaders do not carry it alone.
Support for the people who keep things running
Longtable carries the organizing of every circle, for your lifestyle team and your club leaders.
Reaching the quieter residents
Residents who rarely come to the larger events have a few neighbors of their own.
Your spaces, well used
Circles meet in your clubhouse and common spaces, alongside the clubs.
A home for every interest
A circle can be as particular as its members like. Four residents and one shared enthusiasm is enough.
Beyond the community
What residents know, shared well beyond the community
With Share & Learn, residents pass on what they know and keep learning themselves — one person to another, by request, and only when both agree. Residents can also join circles, groups and events in the wider community, and online with people far beyond it.
A space of your own
Your community, under your own name, for residents only
A page under your name and colors, invitation links you control, and circles private to your residents by default. Basic membership is free, and any resident can try full membership free — circles and Share & Learn included — before deciding anything. After that, each resident can take a membership of their own, or the community can join as a whole, at a reduced rate for everyone.
Built for the people who use it: simple steps, and it works on any phone, tablet or computer. I will introduce it to residents in person or online, and help anyone who wants to get started.
Example: longtablecircles.com/communities/cedar-ridge — Cedar Ridge is a demonstration we built rather than a client. No feed, no advertising, nothing sold; everyone on Longtable is a verified real person, and addresses and ages are never shown.
A bigger vision for later life
Later life is a time to belong, and a time to shape what comes next.
Longtable is growing to serve both. We are building toward keeping family close; residents mentoring a younger generation who can learn from their experience; and a way for residents who want it to put the wisdom of their generation to work on the problems that matter most to them and their communities. Each leads to the same place: greater agency, deeper purpose, and a fuller part in the world around them.
These are directions we are building toward, not features available today.
What I am asking for
I would like to introduce Longtable to your residents and your lifestyle team.
